Platform athlete wins silver medals at 2022 Canada Summer Games

Kash Tarasoff (12) from Saskatoon won silver for Team Sask in the Platform Male event.

REGINA - Team Sask had a successful day of competition on August 18, Day 13 of the 2022 Canada Summer Games. Kash Tarasoff (12) from Saskatoon won silver for Team Sask in the Platform Male event that took place at the Etobicoke Olympium.

Tarasoff entered the finals at 5:10pm EST yesterday. Heather Turner (Saskatchewan local) presented Tarasoff his medal.

Tarasoff represented Team Sask at the 2019 Western Canada Summer Games in Swift Current and has also participated in 2018, 2019, 2021 (Virtual), and 2022 Nationals! He placed second in the Dev/Elite 2022 Nationals event and has won silver medals in the 1m and 3m events at junior nationals. His role model is another Saskatchewan local and Team Sask alumni, Rylan Weins.

PREVIOUS DAY HIGHLIGHTS:

  • ATHLETICS, PARA ATHLETICS, SPECIAL OLYMPICS: After a busy two days on the track, Team Sask had a training day and will return to competition August 19 and 20.
  • BOX LACROSSE (M): Team Sask played a tough game against Team QC. They were tied after the first period, but Team QC scored a couple quick goals in the second period. Team Sask made a comeback, but it wasn’t enough. They lost 5-3 to Team QC. The currently sit third in Pool B and play in the quarterfinal against Team BC August 19.
  • CANOE KAYAK: All racers advanced to the consolation finals in their respective event. Top finishers of the day include sixth place for Dominic Tarasoff in the C-1 200m male, sixth place for Team Sask in the K-4 200m female and sixth place in the K-4 500m female.
  • CYCLING: Nata Kolesova is Team Sask’s top finisher on the women's side, placing 18th in the women’s road race. This is an improvement over her 19th placing in her time trial. Zoey Bourgeois placed 31st. In the *men’s race Fergus English placed fifth, Brayden Windsor was 12th, Luca Veeman and Carson Ritter placed 21st and 22nd respectively and Caleb Bender was 32nd.

  • DIVING: In the preliminary round Ali Cey, Presley Deck and Lila Stewart advanced to the finals. Presley Deck placed 10th overall in the 3m springboard female. On the men’s side Kash Tarasoff placed third in the preliminary round to advance to the final in platform male. He bettered his performance in the final to place second, earning a silver medal for his efforts.
  • GOLF: After the second round of golf Ella Kozak is sitting fourth. Her score for today is 75. Hallie Crozier is tied for 17th with a score of 89 in round two. Hunter Kutcher currently holds eigth place with a score of 74 on the day, while Darien is tied for 14th with a score of 79.
  • ROWING: All crews that raced today advanced to the A final on Sunday.   
  • SAILING, PARA SAILING: After five races Paige Butz and Krystle Shewchuk are still sitting two and three in the 2.4m para mix. Tayha Rolfes is currently in nineth place after three races in the single handed laser radial female and Alec Watters is sixth after three races in the single handed laser male.
  • SOCCER (F): Team Sask had a training day and will regroup for their game against Team YT in the consolation final August 19.
  • SOFTBALL (M): Team Sask had a tough day losing both games played. In the afternoon game against Team NS the lost 7-6 and in the evening game the lost 6-1 to Team ON.  
  • VOLLEYBALL: Both teams played Team NB and were on the winning side. The women’s team won 3-1, while the men won 3-0.
