Five restaurants, five individuals in Sask. ticketed under public health orders

REGINA — Saskatchewan public health issued several fines to both businesses and individuals last week, following reported health order violations.

Public health said it cannot release the names of individuals who receive fines under the Health Information and Privacy Act, but some details of the infractions can be shared.

During the week of Nov. 8, public health inspectors issued two $14,000 fines to businesses in Unity, A&W and Bluez on Second, for failing to screen for proof of vaccination or negative test results. 

One individual also received a ticket for $2,800 for failure to mask during the same inspection.

Three individuals in Pangman received a $2,800 fine for failure to mask during an inspection at the Oasis Roadhouse restaurant.

Chicken Chef in Esterhazy received a $14,000 corporate fine for failure to screen for proof of vaccination or negative test.

Two Tim Horton’s locations in North Battleford were issued separate $14,000 fines for failure to screen for proof of vaccination or negative test.

And one individual in Outlook was issued a personal fine of $2,800 for failure to mask, relating to a previous complaint made on Sept. 20.

The violations follow several others issued near the end of October, to restaurants in Tobin Lake, Caronport and Leader.

Public health also issued a reminder to individuals and businesses that rapid antigen test results, including those obtained from tests currently 小蓝视频 provided by the province, are not considered to meet the negative test qualifications for the proof of vaccination policy.
