SASKATOON — Donald Nykiforuk admits he often won’t check his lottery tickets for quite a while after he buys them.
“I really let them pile up!” the farmer joked at his prize claim interview.
Now, Nykiforuk is piling up his winnings, after a $5 million score on the LOTTO 6/49 Classic Draw for May 8!
“I scanned the ticket on my phone app,” he explained. “I [saw the win and] thought, ‘Wow! I’d better figure out how to manage this!’”
The Bonnyville, Alta., local farms in Saskatchewan and said this will really help him support his farming business.
“I’m not looking at how other people spend their winnings,” he said. “For [farmers], we deal with large amounts of money all the time, and this is going straight into [my business].”
Nykiforuk purchased his winning LOTTO 6/49 ticket from The Centre Food Store at 3310 8th St. E in Saskatoon. He won his prize on the LOTTO 6/49 Classic Draw by matching the selection for May 8: 4, 7, 11, 29, 30, 31.
