Death investigation at Wascana Lake; police asking for help

Regina Police seeking public’s assistance in identifying the deceased person who was discovered at the lake Thursday afternoon.

Regina Police Service have issued an update on the investigation regarding the finding of a deceased person at Wascana Lake.

UPDATE - REGINA - Regina Police Service are seeking the public's assistance in identifying an individual who was discovered deceased at Wascana Lake in Regina.

According to their news release, despite current efforts, the deceased’s identity remains unknown to police at this time. The location of entry into the water also remains undetermined.

Police describe the deceased person is as male, appearing approximately 60 to 70 years old, approximately 5’3” tall, medium build, wearing a grey long-sleeved quarter-zip top, black Columbia fleece jacket; black North Face rain jacket; black pants; green, blue, and white Asics running shoes; and grey crew socks.

Police are asking anyone with information that could assist in this investigation is asked to contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Regina Crimes Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

(10:36 a.m.) : REGINA - A death investigation is under way after a person was discovered deceased at Wascana Lake on Thursday afternoon.

In a news release Regina Police Service confirmed that they, along with Saskatchewan Coroners Service, began the death investigation. The deceased individual is described as an adult male, but the identity remains unknown at this time.

There was a noticeable police and fire department presence at the Wascana Lake area in Regina on Thursday afternoon to respond to the situation that had unfolded. The initial reports were of a situation involving an individual in the lake.

According to police, at approximately 3:20 p.m. Thursday police were dispatched to Wascana Lake for the discovery of a deceased person in the water near Willow Island. 

Regina Fire and Protective Services assisted in recovering the deceased individual. Both police and the coroner attended the scene, and are working to determine the nature of this death.
