REGINA – Saskatchewan Queer Entrepreneurs & Professionals (SQEP) is hosting three small business events focused on 2SLGBTQI+ entrepreneurs across Saskatchewan on Oct. 7 and 8.
SQEP is hosting these events in partnership with the CGLCC: Canada’s 2SLGBTQI+ Chamber of Commerce.
“Queer and trans entrepreneurs contribute immensely to the economy and success of the province, and we’re excited to finally have an opportunity to celebrate and uplift their voices through these events,” said Jacq Brasseur, president of SQEP.
“We’re also looking forward to having the national 2SLGBTQI+ chamber join us in recognizing the entrepreneurial diversity in Saskatchewan.”
SQEP will be hosting a panel of 2SLGBTQI+ entrepreneurs at the Hotel Saskatchewan on Oct. 7 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. The panel will be moderated by Mandy Pavlovsky from Economic Development Regina and includes Jacq Brasseur from Ivy + Dean Consulting and SQEP, Erin Vaughan from Kinetic Auto Service, and Stuart Chutter, a farmer and berry producer in Saskatchewan.
With support from the Humboldt Chamber of Commerce on Oct. 8, SQEP is hosting a networking luncheon for business and corporate leaders who share an interest in building inclusive entrepreneurship spaces at the Bella Vista Inn from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
SQEP is also hosting a 2SLGBTQI+ Business Pitch Competition on Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Capitol Music Club in Saskatoon where queer and trans entrepreneurs can pitch their business or idea for a cash prize of $250. Judges from SK Startup Institute, StartupTNT and the CGLCC will be in attendance.
