SASKATCHEWAN — The 12th edition of STARS Lottery launched to the public today at events in Saskatoon and Regina-area lottery dream homes, offering supporters a chance to win more than 1,600 prizes valued at over $3.6 million.
“What makes this lottery fundamentally different from almost all other charitable lotteries on the planet is that the funds go directly toward operations; that is, our 24/7 missions to those in need across Saskatchewan,” said Andrea Robertson, STARS president and CEO.
“When you buy a STARS Lottery ticket, you enable us to deliver leading-edge critical care that saves lives – anywhere it’s required.”
One life saved was that of Draedon Faubert, who survived a nearly-fatal highway rollover, thanks to the speed and critical care expertise of the STARS crew.
“Draedon’s doctors and care team in Regina and Saskatoon were excellent, working amazing magic to enable him to recover, but none of it matters if he hadn’t made it to them alive,” said Draedon’s father, Chris Faubert.
“Because of STARS, our son’s story gets to continue on.”
The 2023 lottery features two gorgeous grand prize dream homes: one each in Regina area and Saskatoon. The Early Bird prize package is a fully-loaded RV, fuel card, Sask. Parks gifts card and cash, valued at $274,000 (or $200,000 cash). The popular Lucky STARS 50/50 is back again and will see one lucky winner receive half of up to $5 million cash. This year’s bonus prize is a $100,000 world travel credit or an $80,000 cash alternative. Thousands of other prizes round out the offering, including vehicles, vacations, experiences, cash and more.
While the lottery’s prizes may have evolved over the last 12 years, its life-saving purpose has remained constant, the organization states in a press release.
“STARS LOTTERY remains our largest fundraiser; a critical part of our funding model that has been generously supported since the beginning, helping to save the lives of thousands of friends, neighbours and loved ones,” said Robertson.
“We thank the people of Saskatchewan and trust they will once again this year give life-saving support by purchasing their life-changing lottery tickets.”
