It is with great sadness the family announce the passing of William Lloyd Smith of Moose Jaw, SK, on December 5, 2024, at the age of 79 after his final battle with cancer

Lloyd was born in Outlook, SK. After the death of his father, the family moved to Eyebrow, SK where he grew up and went to school. He met his love and wife, Margaret, on a blind date. They married on July 24, 1965. Together they welcomed two daughters, Gwen and Tammy, that they raised in the Mortlach area. Lloyd lived in Mortlach and ran N.M Patterson Grain for 29 years. They moved to Moose Jaw in 2009. Lloyd worked at W.J. Jones and Son as a funeral attendant for the last 40 years. His family and friends meant everything to him. 

Lloyd is predeceased by his parents, sister, brother-in-law and his dear grandson Billy Payne. He is survived by his wonderful wife Margaret; daughters Gwen (Kelvin) Grasdal and Tammy (Garth) Payne; grandchildren Lindy (Seth) Grasdal, Andrew (Taylor) Grasdal, Allison Payne; great-grandson Phillip Grasdal. As well as other extended family members. 

Lloyd’s family and friends are asked to join Margaret in a Celebration of his life on December 14, 2024, at 1:30 PM at W.J. Jones and Son Reception Hall, 474 Hochelaga St W, Della Ferguson will offer words of tribute. A private interment will take place at a later date. 

The family would like to thank the staff on the Medicine ward at Dr. F.H. Wigmore Hospital for their great care of our Lloyd during his stay with them. 

For those so wishing memorial donations may be directed to Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign, 175 1 Ave NE, Moose Jaw, SK.  In living memory of Lloyd, a memorial planting will be made by W.J.
