Sheila Joan Axten

Sheila Joan Axten, the beloved wife of Robert Axten (predeceased) peacefully passed away at the Foothills Country Hospice, on Thursday December 19, 2024, at the age of 86.

Sheila is survived by her children, Craig (Theresa) Axten, Bill Axten, Kathy (Jim) Swain, and Todd (Cindy) Axten; grandchildren, Aleesa (Phil), Ryan, Robert, Christopher (Syd), Amanda (Austin), Dustin (Cyra), Danielle (Bobby), and Alexandra (Colm); and great grandchildren, Draya, Luca, Myka.

Sheila was a very proud and loving mother, grandmother, and friend.
She was always full of laughter, style, and grace.
Her faith and church congregation played a very important role in how she lived her life.

Sheila’s wit and humour was always appreciated and stayed with her right up until her passing. The love she had for animals was almost as much as the love she had for her own children. When talking with people, she would mention her grandchildren and would always include how many grand dogs and cats she had with great enthusiasm.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Sheila’s memory to an animal shelter of your choice. The Last Chance Cat Ranch was Mom’s favorite.

A sincere thank you to all the wonderful nurses, staff, and volunteers at the Foothills Country Hospice in Okotoks. The loving care they provided to our mother and to our family was above and beyond.

A private family service fulfilling Sheila’s wishes will take place at a later date.
