GRACE RUTH FUHR
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth Fuhr on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Foyer D’Youville, Gravelbourg, SK at the age of 101 years.
Ruth was born to Grace and Robert Freeborn in Medicine Hat, Alberta on December 16, 1922, one of nine children. Ruth moved with her family to Saskatchewan when just an infant and raised in the Simmie/Swift Current area.
Ruth met her husband Russ Fuhr in Swift Current while working in a restaurant where he stopped to eat while driving truck. They were married in Moose Jaw on February 19, 1944 and were together until his passing in 1996. They spent their entire lives in Moose Jaw; Ruth working in various positions in the service industry and Russ driving truck and the city bus. They had three children; a son and two daughters.
Ruth was predeceased by her mother and father; two sisters; six brothers; husband Russ; daughter Pat; son-in-law Ken; and granddaughter Cathy.
She is survived by her son Richard Neilson; daughter Gail (Marshall) Beattie; sister-in-law Gail Freeborn; grandchildren Angela (Lindsay), Greg, Terri (Ed), Chris, Rod (Donna), Tracy, and Todd; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ruth spent the majority of her time caring for her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed tending her vegetable and flower gardens and going on shopping trips with Russ. After the passing of Russ, Ruth moved to the Timothy Eaton’s Centre and discovered her love for painting. She was very gifted in this area and produced many oil paintings that are cherished by her family.
Ruth moved to Chateau St. Michael’s when her health declined and finally to Foyer D’Youville when the next level of care was required.
There will be no memorial service as Ruth’s wishes. Ruth will be interred with her husband Russ at Rosedale Cemetery at a private Graveside.

Gail and Marshall would like to extend their deep appreciation for the kindness and extremely personal and excellent care that Ruth received from the staff at Foyer as well as the kindness and assistance extended to themselves.
