UNITY — Depending on which weather forecast resource you follow, there are varying predictions what weather will look like this summer, but many seem to agree that the continued dry trend will be ongoing.
Community town councils have begun issuing public notices to residents regarding the town’s watering restrictions or schedules for their communities to help preserve water supplies.
The town of Luseland notified residents May 26 that due to volume demand on the water system, a watering schedule is in place. East side residents are allowed watering Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, while west side residents have the days remaining of Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
The town of Luseland also reminded residents that no watering of lawns or gardens is permitted on Sundays to give the demands on the water system a rest.
In Wilkie, earlier in May, a post was made on social media notifying residents that all outside watering of lawns, flower beds, trees and gardens can take place from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily only, effective May 1 to Sept. 30.
In Kerrobert, the town has included May through to September for watering restrictions. Homes with odd numbered civic addresses can water Monday, Wednesday and Friday while even numbered civic addresses can water Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Watering lawns and gardens is permitted between 7 p.m. and midnight only and no watering is permitted on Sundays.
“The watering schedule for the town of Unity allows watering Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. No watering of lawns or gardens is permitted on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Sundays,” advises Mayor Sharon Del Frari.
Town offices say they appreciate residents' understanding and adherence to these guidelines as it benefits the community overall. The direction givento residents on water usage is to sustain community water levels for firefighting needs as well to preserve the town’s water supply, and aids in giving the town’s water system a rest from demands on the wells and supply.
