Unity's mayor says town looking to fill two key positions

Unity's Mayor and council working to finalize the budget for 2022, as well as meeting to bring the 1st Ave. project on board

UNITY ‑‑ The town of Unity has advertised for an economic development officer and will continue to look for the right applicant for the position. Jake Senger has decided to move back to his position as foreman for the Public Works Department. This leaves an opening for the public works director position. All of these challenges will impact the town's budget discussion.

“I’m sure we are all glad to see the end of January. We have had enough of the cold for this year," says Mayor Sharon Del Frari in her February message.

"We have also had enough snow. I want to thank our Public Works crew for clearing the streets for us. When you see the ridges, it is a lot of snow. Thank you again to those who helped their neighbours by clearing sidewalks and driveways.”

Del Frari adds, “As I write this, I am isolating. From what I understand, this is happening to many people across the province and country. I am lucky that I am through with the career time of life. Many people are missing work and children are missing school. I think it’s important to try to understand people are all trying to get through the best way possible."

This month, the mayor has attended three meetings virtually, which included regular council meeting, Unity and District Chamber of Commerce meeting and the meeting for West Central Communities committee.

Management and council will be working together to finalize the budget for 2022. They will also be holding meetings to bring the 1st Avenue project on board.

“As a council, we look forward to working withs and management to always bring our community the best value for our tax dollars,” adds Del Frari.
