A rink for Scott, SK comprised of Val Schwab, Tom Giblin, Norman McKenzie, and Myron Schell won the top honour at the Unity Open Bonspiel, defeating the Ted Gartner rink of Macklin.

The Saskatchewan Securities Commission gave the approval to commence sale of Class A shares for the Prairie Springs Mineral Spa based out of Wilkie.
Area schools said they would not close for cold weather. Lands West School Division supervisor Ray Fenrich said the division has a cold weather policy in place, which would cancel rural bus service for rural students should temperatures reach -40 to -45 Celsius with a windchill but does not include closing the schools for town students and town bus services.
