UNITY -- Unity’s Devyn McLean is back playing with the University of Saskatchewan softball squad.
Following several rounds of tryouts, it was announced in August McLean is returning to the team, making more than 10 years that Unity has been represented on the university softball team.
“Opening weekend was way different from last year. I was more comfortable.” says Mclean.
“Although we didn’t get the wins we wanted most of the games were close and we worked well together for 小蓝视频 a fairly new team.”
Aug. 25-27, the Western Collegiate Softball Association held their opening weekend at the Gordie Howe ballpark in Saskatoon. The U of S was proud that their first team win against Lethbridge resulted in an errorless ball game. The seven team event saw teams competing from University of Regina Cougers, University of Calgary Dinos, University of Lethbridge Pronghorns, University of Victoria Vikes, Briercrest College Clipperes, SAIT Polytechnic Trojans, University of BC/Okanagan Heat.
“As we practise and time progresses, I know we will be able to eliminate the errors in even more games,” McLean adds.
“I am excited for the team this year. It is a good group of girls and I feel as the season continues, we will only get better.”
McLean says the team has morning and evening practices that do not interfere with her academics, and she has time for homework on weekend bus trips. She says a six-week season is manageable.
The U of S team will be back on Saskatoon diamonds in their WCSA schedule Sept 8-10 weekend. Follow their Facebook page for more information and updates.
