Lots has been happening in Luseland, particularly with some new people joining our team. The town welcomes new assistant foreman, Wesley Paz. We also have a new summer student this season, Cassey Reiniger. We would also like to welcome Adam Cook to the area. Adam and his family have moved from Fort McMurray to Macklin. Adam will be embarking on a brand-new position for the Town of Luseland and in partnership with the Luseland Bell Acres Golf Club. He will be heading up our recreation department and swinging in between maintenance of the golf course and the arena and filling in other gaps between fairground/ball diamond maintenance and our park.
The Town of Luseland has also recently hired a new manager for the Luseland Community Motel. Daleen Venter, who everyone will recognize from working at the Luseland Pharmacy, has taken on this role. She has already been doing many upgrades and taken on the responsibility of administering the motel Facebook page.
The Luseland Rink Improvement Committee has been quite busy over the summer doing much needed upgrades at the arena. They cleaned out and repaired the header trench and did repairs to the west wall of the rink. There were volunteers who did all these repairs, and the town is so grateful for them. We have amazing volunteers who keep stepping up to the plate and ensuring that recreation continues to be a priority in our small community and surrounding area. The Rink Improvement Committee has also taken on seeding the town’s municipal subdivision and will be using these profits towards arena upgrades and improvements.
The Town of Luseland proclaimed July 21-27 National Drowning Prevention Week. Many activities were held at the Luseland Swimming Pool to recognize this week and teach water safety. The swimming pool ran three very successful sets of swimming lessons for the 2024 season and with all the hot weather, the pool was the hub of the community once again. Our pool staff kept this facility running smoothly.
The Luseland Community Development Committee is once again running their annual Harvest Festival on Sept. 7. Many organizations and businesses will be running various events and specials. This year the committee is trying something new and will have our first ever Chili Cook-Off. Luseland Bell Acres Golf & Country Club will be having a roast beef supper out at the golf club and will begin selling tickets for this on Aug.12. The Luseland Museum will also once again be running the very popular veggie car races which were a highlight of the day last harvest festival. Stay tuned for other events and follow the Luseland Harvest Festival Facebook page.
The Town of Luseland has also been very busy doing some infrastructure upgrades over the summer season. Our town crew did a bunch of pothole repairs in July and now will be working on some new water shut offs 小蓝视频 installed so that the town doesn’t have to completely shut water off town wide when water breaks occur. We will also very soon be tearing down a couple of tax title properties on Main Street. This will open the opportunity for new commercial development or possibly a beautification project for the downtown. Council is busy discussing the possibilities. The Luseland Community Hall also had some work done over the summer with the floors 小蓝视频 stripped and redone. Our theatre equipment has all been moved and set up and we will be ready to show movies again in the fall in the new space. Stay tuned for more movie/theatre information very soon.
