UNITY – The bus drivers in Unity have seen far too many close calls when it comes to motorists and students.
Over the years, there have been motorists who drive through the flashing red lights and stop arms after school has been let out. Usually, the bus drivers have been able to deter them by honking their horns or stepping out into the street to talk to the motorists.
The school year is barely into its third month and the bus drivers have seen more motorists cruising through the street between the high school and public school while awaiting students to board. Drivers voiced their concerns and frustrations to the Living Sky School Division.
The solution that was suggested was that buses could park further away from the curb, resulting in a smaller space between the rows, eliminating the chances of a vehicle 小蓝视频 able to pass.
According to Living Sky School Division, this solution has been done in several other communities and has been well received by staff both on and off the bus.
The division says it appreciates the bus drivers advocating for the students and hopes that motorists pay closer attention when it comes to school buses with their stop arms and lights.
