Snow continues as source of frustration for Luseland Public Works crew

The popular live theatre group in Luseland, Pothole Productions, is thrilled to perform again after a three-year pandemic prescribed hiatus.

LUSELAND — Snow continues to be a constant source of frustration for public work crews this season. March always seems to boast a late winter blizzard or two. Be patient with the town crew as they get caught up from this latest blast of snow and wind. Time consumed by snow removal efforts also takes away from how quickly they can tend to other projects.

The town of Luseland was disappointed when it received word that we were declined on an application we made under Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program to bring another well online to ensure the long-term capacity needs for water in town and help solve some of the iron problems. The administrative staff is always on the hunt for grants so we can continue to invest and renew aging infrastructure. They recently also made an application to the Green and Inclusive Community Building Fund for solar panels for the Luseland Arena. Not only would this reduce our energy footprint but could help with significant cost savings as power and energy prices continue to soar.

The Luseland Swimming Pool Building Committee sold out all their 2023-24 Trip of the Month tickets. The committee thanks everyone who continues to support this fundraiser. The proceeds go towards paying down the remaining building costs of the new swimming pool. The Luseland Credit Union Swimming Pool operating committee has extended advertising for pool staff for the 2023 season. They are looking for a pool manager, swim instructors and lifeguards. This is a great summer job and an opportunity for many to work in a beautiful new swimming facility. Please contact the Town of Luseland for more information or email your resumés to [email protected]. I also encourage parents and/or guardians to consider registering children for Bronze Cross and Medallion. The future of our swimming pool is in the hands of our youth. The pool is often a first job for many and a great opportunity to get job experience, work with others, teach swimming lessons and be a positive role model for children.

After a three-year performing hiatus, the Pothole Productions executive committee has gathered and is pleased to announce the show must go on.

They are bringing a comedy to the stage this summer and would love to gather some input, starting with options for performance dates. Check out their Facebook post and respond between the two options offered.

The Luseland Hall Board had a meeting March 13 and will be planning some fundraisers to support future upgrades such as a new boiler and kitchen update. They will once again be organizing the annual Luseland Community Garage Sale, so stay tuned for future updates on that. There will be lots of exciting events upcoming in spring.
