Season celebrated at Kerrobert Wildlife Federation dinner and awards

Thirteen award winners were recognized.

KERROBERT — After a pandemic prescribed two-year hiatus and an earlier 2022 event postponement, Kerrobert Wildlife Federation hosted an in-person dinner and awards celebration April 23.

A KWF spokesperson tells the Press-Herald / SASKTODAY.ca, “Our event was a huge success thanks to everyone involved. We had approximately 200 people in attendance, and although it was lower than previous years, we were happy to finally be in-person once again.”

The event is the organization’s biggest fundraiser of the year.

Membership purchases also aid the wildlife organization and typically they sell about 100 memberships per year. Sixteen Kerrobert residents make up the volunteer board and they will always welcome new board members to join.

KWF is known for the long-standing firearm safety program offered in the community and the development and maintenance of the Kerrobert Reservoir.

Volunteer hours are put in each year at the Kerrobert Reservoir to maintain the year-round space located just outside of the community. The location offers bird watching, a trout pond in the summer, walking trails, native grasses and a bee aviary. Visitors may encounter other wildlife and the venue provides the a setting for a picnic or exploration adventure with youngsters.

KWF also tries to send a couple of kids each year to conservation camp at Hannin Creek.
