Recreation survey in Luseland helps council plan for future

Residents completed a survey to help town council proceed with more strategic planning to ensure their facilities will continue to flourish

LUSLEAND - The town of Luseland opened a survey in early 2022 to seek input from residents that would help the mayor and council compile information regarding recreational facilities operated by the town.

From January to March, residents could input their answers. Virginia Brice, assistant administrator, was tasked with assessing the results to take to council.

Brice says 130 responses were received and the town is thankful to those that took the time to complete the survey. Those who participated were entered into a draw to win $50 in Luseland Bucks with Reann Gidluck the winner.

From the results collected, council learned that the top three most valued facilities in Luseland were the businesses, the swimming pool and the community hall.

The small town of Luseland boasts a number of attractions that include a nearby trout pond, and a museum located in the downtown core. The community also includes several parks, an arena and community fairgrounds where the community’s ball diamonds are located. The arena includes exterior murals as well as a sports hall of fame inside, noting a number of community sports success stories.

Luseland’s golf course has an active committee that continues to commit to upgrades that benefit users and attract visitors to the recreation venue. The installation of synthetic greens in 2021 have already proved beneficial as the numbers of golfers went up in that season.

The Luseland Credit Union Community Swimming Pool and the duo of Candice Kraft and Adam Franko, who worked tirelessly to fundraise for and have the pool built, and former pool demolished, all within a one-year time span have received award recognition. Both have won awards through Rivers West Sports, Culture and Recreation for their contributions.

With the information collected, Luseland’s town council will proceed with more strategic planning to ensure the facilities their residents value will continue to flourish.
