UNITY — With only two performances scheduled, the Unity Composite High School rock band, Backstage Pass, is putting on their spring performances on May 1 and 2. And although dirty deeds may be done dirt cheap for rock legends AC/DC, Backstage Pass is doing their good deeds for a reasonable cost.
There will be a cover charge for the two shows, $10 for adults and $2 for students, with some of the proceeds 小蓝视频 donated back into the community: KC Rescue and the Unity Ag Society for repairs to the Agro-Plex.
The band comprises nine students: Hailey-lynn Aldred, Zach Ignacio, Sage Aldred, Hailey Sacher, Ron Cordita, Cadence Johnson, Miles Schwartz, Xander Wells and Alexis Pitt. With weekly practices, the students began working on their set list in November 2024, eager and excited to perform for a live audience.
The program was brought to life five years ago by musician and teacher Greg Bick. As someone who lives for music, he saw the opportunity for the students.
“Most kids who learn instruments never get to play with someone else in a band or jamming. I think the experience of playing with others is invaluable. Let’s face it, drums are fun on their own, but don’t sound like a song until other instruments are added,” said Bick.
The upcoming live shows will be a full-on rock show, with lots of lights, smoke and pyrotechnics, with some special surprise guests. The students have put a lot of work into the shows, where rock and music fans will be happy with the shows they have planned.
“Learning to play music together is important and the students don’t have a way to do that. Also, playing for a live audience is something many kids don’t get to do. I’ve told them they should experience 小蓝视频 a rock star for a day or two,” added Bick.
Both shows will be at the senior gymnasium at UCHS, starting at 7:30 p.m. Come and support these causes and the music program at school.
