One election proceeding for RM of Reford, reeve and three councilors elected by acclamation

Todd Miller will become the new reeve of the RM of Reford, elected by acclamation

CUT KNIFE — Don McCallum of Cut Knife, appointed as returning officer for the RM of Reford No. 379 elections required after mass resignations at a council meeting June 8, will only have to count ballots for one position. Gregory Eppich and Becky Huber are in the running for the Division 1 councillor spot.

Elected by acclamation will be Jason Delainey in Division 2, Evan Johnson in Division 4 and Brett Sittler in Division 6. Todd Miller will become the new reeve, also by acclamation.

In the meantime, Peter Volk of Tramping Lake is acting as reeve by appointment while Kim Gartner of Macklin and Alex Majewski of Wilkie were appointed as councillors to keep a council quorum until the scheduled election date of Aug. 30.

With the additional resignations of acting administrator Curt Kowalchuk and assistant administrator Wanda Laturnus effective June 29, the RM is also looking for new office staff.

There had been some allegations of harassment swirling around at the time of the June 8 resignations. A SASKTODAY. ca enquiry to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety elicited this response: “We are aware of the alleged harassment complaints with the RM of Reford, however, we cannot comment further on the matter.”
