UNITY — Keeping with tradition, Unity Wildlife Federation held their annual scoring night Dec. 4. More than 30 heads were measured at the 2022 event.
The event has been part of the UWF calendar of events for more than 15 years and offers hunters and anglers a chance to see how they “measure up,” as well as assess fish and game for the yearly awards presented in February. In addition to the official part of the afternoon and the socializing the UWF provides beef on a bun for participants.
It is also an opportunity to sell UWF memberships and advance tickets to the popular wildlife supper in February. The weather might have played a role in not immediately selling out however this gives people an opportunity to still secure their tickets.
UWF continues to fund Scott dam, restocking and aerating it for anglers. They group also funds the yearly firearm safety program as well as the newly formed UCHS archery program. UWF also provides a scholarship each year at the high school.
When the wildlife supper rolls around, UWF executive and other volunteers look after preparing the feast for supper, organizing the awards part of the evening as well performing all other tasks that help with their biggest fundraiser each year.
