MARSDEN – For one day only, Main Street in Marsden was lined with vendors, food trucks, and shoppers for the fourth annual Fall Street Festival, Sept. 7.
Even though the day was extremely warm for the season, more than 750 people roamed the street. While many were there to shop and try the different food options available, there was some entertainment for all ages.
This year’s event had the bonus of a car show, where many interesting vehicles were parked next to the community hall including a shiny semi. A stage set up in the middle of the intersection was home to musical artists including Ernestine Hatpin, Amanda Koopa, Rupert Appleyard, The Prairie Dogs and local Glenn Hegel. The Manitou Fire and Rescue were also providing entertainment with a dunk tank but were also on hand for any First Aid needs.
With eight members on the Marsden Community Hall Board, organizers were seen throughout the day checking in on the vendors. Even with the event over, plans for next year have already been set into motion.
Tracy Kurtz, one of the board members, is a vendor herself and thought hosting an outdoor market would be good for the small community of Marsden. The board also hosts other events throughout the year as well.
“We look after the community calendar and usually do a Christmas event, either a tradeshow or something fun,” said Kurtz.
While most of the funds are used for upkeep of the aging hall, the board is looking into fixing the entryway and lobby for the future.
“I am proud of our community for all their support. I put my heart and soul into this event and would love to see it grow even larger next year,” said Kurtz.
