UNITY -- Baseball Sask. has named Unity and Macklin host communities for provincial championships July 14-16 weekend.
The weekend kicks off the first provincial event in Unity, July 14-16, as the 15U Cardinals are hosting the 15U AA Tier 1 championship. Unity U18 Cardinals will host the following weekend, July 21-23.
The Unity Cardinals 15U team will be competing for a Saskatchewan Baseball title along with seven other teams that include Saskatoon Braves, Prince Albert Royals, Humboldt Dodgers, Maidstone Lakers, Lumsden Cubs, Saskatoon A’s, and the Saskatoon Blue Jays.
Games will start at 2 p.m. on July 14 with opening ceremonies at 5 p.m. Unity will play in their opening game at 6 p.m. against the Saskatoon A’s. Games continue all day Saturday with tie breakers and playoff games held Sunday to determine a provincial champion.
Unity’s ball diamond facility has been admired and envied my many attendees for varying softball and baseball events hosted there. The two designated baseball diamonds, 小蓝视频 the Kinsmen and Credit Union diamond, will be where the game action is and the other diamonds and batting cages on site will be for teams warming up prior to their scheduled games.
Unity Minor Ball, under the leadership of President, Regan L’Heureux, works year-round to update and maintain the facility for the benefit of all softball and baseball divisions under their banner. Host team and volunteers also work ahead of the event to prepare the facility for the best experience for everyone who is involved, whether player or fan.
Macklin Lakers are playing host to the 2023 11U AA Tier 3 championship, in an eight-team event.
The Lakers will be competing against the Eston Ramblers, Prince Albert Royals, Saskatoon Royal 64’s, Meadow Lake Sox, Rosetown Angels, Sask. Five Sliders and the 11U Unity Cardinals.
Games begin at noon on July 14 with the Lakers facing the Royal 64’s in the opening game. Unity will have their first game against the Sask. Five Sliders at 3 p.m.
The Macklin host committee has lined up opening ceremonies at 6 p.m. followed by a fun skills competition for players. Games will be played all day July 15 with tiebreakers and playoffs scheduled for July 16.
Macklin Minor Ball has put in extensive work upgrading and maintain their beautiful diamonds facility situated at the Macklin Lake Regional Park. In addition to the host committee and volunteers doing pre-event preparation for the event, additional volunteers serve in various roles throughout the weekend making for the best experience for everyone who attends whether players or fans.
