Girls' volleyball off to provincials, boys' volleyball leading up to provincials

Local high school senior volleyball teams are in the tail end of their season with three girls teams going to provincials and boy's teams in regionals looking to earn a provincial berth

UNITY ‑ Senior girls’ volleyball held conference playoffs Nov. 6, with the top two teams advancing to regional playdowns Nov. 13 weekend. A regional win sends teams to upcoming provincial championships.

Kerrobert hosted 1A north conference, however a third-place finish did not advance the team to upcoming regionals. Luseland was also part of this event but were unable to secure a top-two finish.

Macklin girls were conference champions as well as winning the regional title in Neilburg Nov 12 weekend. This earns the team a spot at upcoming 2A volleyball provincials in Naicam/St. Brieux.

McLurg senior girls came out of their conference playoffs in second place and advanced to regionals held at LCBI in Outlook Nov. 13. The team earned a spot at upcoming 2A volleyball provincials and will head to Naicam/St. Brieux to compete Nov. 19-20.

Unity Composite High School played host to senior girls' 3A north conferences in which the UCHS Warriors earned gold, sending them to regional playoffs in Rosetown Nov. 13. The team captured regional gold and will now head to Shellbrook/Canwood to compete at 3A girls' provincial championship.

In the senior boys' division, conference playoffs were held the Nov. 13 weekend. Luseland was unable to advance out of 2A conferences held in Neilburg. McLurg boys hosted 2A conferences in a six-team event and won their spot at regional championships taking place Nov. 19-20, place yet to be determined. Provincials for 2A boys will be held in St. Walburg/Turtleford Nov. 26-27. Unity is playing host to both 3A boys' conferences Nov. 19-20 weekend as well as upcoming provincial championship event the following weekend.
