Delta Co-op adapts through pandemic challenges

With four community locations and a variety of commodities offered at these locations, Delta Co-op continues to adapt to challenges creted by the pandemic

UNITY ‑‑ Delta Co-op, with locations in Luseland, Macklin, Unity and Wilkie, continues to persevere through ongoing challenges as a result of the pandemic.

Supply chain problems have arisen and have affected all locations and the variety of commodities they can offer.

"There is currently a shortage seen Canada wide with many products," Julie Spencer, Marketing and Communications manager of Delta Co-op, tells the Press-Herald / SASKTODAY.ca.

She says many companies have been impacted.

"Delta Co-op is working closely with all suppliers to secure inventory; however, there are still many delays. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause our members."

Spencer says Delta Co-op continues to maintain protocols for the health and safety of customers and staff. Delta Co-op locations have sanitizer stations at entry points and masks are mandated for staff and customers. If customers do not have a mask, a staff member will provide one. Delta Co-op offers free COVID-19 antigen rapid test devices to staff and customers. Many staff are testing weekly or daily.

“Should any staff member contract the virus, we will ensure that another team member is present at the locations, so the level of service is not disrupted," says Spencer.

Staff also practise regular cleaning of high-touch surfaces and separated corrals for carts that have been sanitized and those waiting to be sanitized. Checkout locations have shields in place for protection of team members and customers.

Delta Co-op continues to provide online or phone-in ordering options, with the choice of having an order delivered or ready for pick up, to reduce in-person contact.

Delta Co-op expansion plans include a C-Store and Dairy Queen under construction in Macklin with opening date predicted for spring of 2022. Macklin saw the addition of a Delta Co-op Ag location in 2021.
