UNITY - It’s playoff season for local high school volleyball teams.
Starting with the junior divisions, conferences were held Oct. 30 with teams hoping to earn a spot at upcoming District championships taking place Nov. 4.
At UCHS, Jr. Boys earned a spot at Battle West District playoffs in Wilkie after placing second at conference playoffs hosted Oct. 30 in Wilkie. The Jr. Girls’ team under coach Rhonda Gartner dropped only one set all day of conference playoffs advancing them as first place team to Battle West District Championship hosted in Unity, Nov. 4.
UCHS senior Warrior volleyball boys’ team will play their last tune up tournament in Warman Nov. 6 weekend. This team will not face any conference playoffs as there are fewer teams in the 3A category, therefore the senior Warriors boys’ volleyball squad will host the North Region playoffs on Nov. 20 in an eight-team tournament where four teams will advance to provincials, including Unity as one.
Unity will host senior boy’s provincials on Nov. 26-27 in a 10-team format.
Unity lady Warrior’s volleyball play host to conference playoffs on Nov. 6 with hopes of advancing to regional playoffs which could earn them a berth to provincials. After conference event, the girl’s team will be playing away for the remainder of their season.
Kerrobert senior girls’ volleyball will host 1A conferences, North region, on Nov. 6 and will include teams from Luseland, Edam, Hillmond and Plenty.
McLurg junior volleyball teams were part of Battle West 小蓝视频 conferences on Oct. 20, with those teams advancing competing at Battle West District championships on Nov. 4, of which Unity will host the girl’s competition and Wilkie will play host to the boy’s competition. Both of these district events will include eight teams. The junior girls earned third place at conferences advancing them to districts while the junior boys won top spot guaranteeing them a spot at districts.
The Broncs have had strong seasons for both boys and girl’s senior volleyball divisions. McLurg will play host to the 2A boy’s conference playdowns on Nov. 13 with six teams slated to face off for two spots to advance to regionals. Wilkie girls will also compete at conferences on Nov. 6 weekend with a desire to earn a spot at regional competition which can earn the team a trip to provincials.
