Community excited about time capsule reveal June 23

Kerrobert Mayor sheds spotlight on community contributor, Marli Shepherd.

KERROBERT — Finally, the rain has come back to West Central Saskatchewan. We were in for some worrisome times, but Mother Nature finally answered the call and brought forth some much needed precipitation. Nothing like a good shower to green up the grass and foliage. Farmers can breathe a sigh of relief, and the summer work for the town kicks into full gear with cutting grass, spraying weeds and other work.

Our Communities and Bloom crew and Chamber of Commerce can get all the flowers planted throughout town. The flowers sure make the community more attractive to passersby. Many people stop by our Poolside Park on the way through town to have a picnic as have a nice break during their travels.

I mentioned before that our crews are now back in town to start the curb and sidewalk work. The crews are replacing only what had to be removed to put in services to homes and businesses. I may have worded it last time in a way that all the curbs and sidewalks were getting replaced. So just to be clear, only what was removed during the digging portion and service connection portion of this project are 小蓝视频 replaced. The cement work should be completed near the end of July, then the dirt work to prepare the streets that had been dug up last year to install new water and sewer lines will get done. This should not take too long, and then the new pavement can be completed sometime in August.

The courthouse steps should also be completed by either the end of July or early August. Our time capsule opening will be held June 23. There will be a barbecue and courthouse tours starting at 5 p.m., then everyone can stick around for the opening of the time capsule at 7 p.m.

Once again, I would like to congratulate all our graduates as they complete high school and venture out either for more education or enter the workforce. Well done!

I wanted to shed the spotlight on one of our citizens. Marli Shepherd who works in our town office has won a Volunteer Recognition Award from Rivers West District for Sport Culture and Recreation. Marli does tireless work throughout many facets of our community. She is involved with the wildlife federation and the Kerrobert Football Association, which are just a couple of those areas in which she contributes a lot of time and effort to make each organization better. Currently the Kerrobert Football Association is raising money for permanent lighting at our highschool football field. Marli has also been involved with hockey in our community, and although we have many that volunteer throughout our community, Marli goes above and beyond to use her personal time to make Kerrobert as great as it can be, and we salute her amazing efforts. It is fantastic that her hard work is 小蓝视频 recognized in this way with such a great award. Congratulations, Marli!
