UNITY — Unity Community Daycare received $7,200 in funding from the Community Initiative Fund’s Oct. 1 disbursement, which doled out just over $1.8 million in funding. which will support 138 grants.
A media release from CIF states, “These grants will benefit an estimated 92,902 participants contributing to the well-小蓝视频 of 55 communities across Saskatchewan.”
A board member for the daycare centre says, “The funds will be used to help fund the after-school program, which currently includes 30 students between Unity Public School and St. Peter’s School.”
Unity’s Community Daycare goes on to say that the funding helps them with paying eight student employees who run the program, as well as assist with purchasing equipment, supplies and craft material. The money supports a program that provides supervised programming to school-age kids from the time school is out until parents are off work to pick them up.
The release goes on to say, “CIF’s Community Grant Program provides funding to a variety of projects across Saskatchewan contributing to the well-小蓝视频 of communities. These projects provide opportunities for children and youth to gain the knowledge, skills and supports to develop positive mental health, self-esteem and healthy lifestyle behaviours, and ensure families have access to support and resources to create healthy and caring environments.”
CIF is a Special Purpose Fund created though the Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation Act and governed by a volunteer board.

It has been a merry December for the community's daycare as they were also beneficiaries of a $2,075 donation as a result of the "Be Merry and Flourish" gala event held Dec. 3.
