UNITY -- The Unity and District Chamber of Commerce has a new business welcoming committee, which has been in abeyance since March of 2020. This month, the committee recommenced visits to new businesses, both to learn about the story behind each business and to give the entrepreneurs information about the chamber.
The committee started by checking out the premises at Simply Swimming and to chat with owner Annemie Bernardo. By happenstance, the visit took place just a couple of weeks shy of Simply Swimming’s first anniversary.
Bernardo said her aquasize classes have been very popular. With the help of a couple of other instructors, she is currently running 12 classes a week, all of which are currently fully booked.
She said it took a little longer for children’s swimming lessons to become popular but nevertheless she has taught 70 kids over the past year. She has been teaching swimming for 16 years altogether and Simply Swimming’s indoor classes are for children from seven months of age to the swimmer 6 level.
She said a surprising number of adults have also come for private swimming lessons – both new Canadians and people who have grown up in Saskatchewan, but none of whom knew how to swim.
The Unity and District Chamber of Commerce is pleased to congratulate Annemie Bernardo and Simply Swimming on their first year of business, and wishes them many more years of success in Unity.
