Awards handed out to WCWK, some players sign with Triple A teams

The storybook season of the U18AA West Central Wheat Kings was recognized with a season end awards event.

KERROBERT — It was a storybook season for the U18AA West Central Wheat Kings that took them all the way to the provincial final, game three.

The team gained legions fans throughout their exciting playoff run and although the outcome wasn’t what they had hoped for, the season garnered a number of success stories that were recognized at their season end banquet.

Ben Walz was awarded the Scholastic award maintain a 90 per cent average,

Leighton Partington was presented this season’s Hustler award.

Calvin Feader was named Most Improved Player for the WCWK season.

Landyn Nash was presented the Most Sportsmanlike award, having only 12 penalty minutes all year.

Jonathan Kamper was awarded Most Dedicated Player.

Hunter Sperle earned Top Scorer, notching 45 points in the regular season and 18 points in the playoffs.

Goaltender, Blake Sittler earned the team Most Valuable Player award.

To add to the team’s success story, it was recently announced that Dodsland’s Blake Sittler was signed by the Yorkton Maulers AAA U18 team for next season.

Kerrobert’s Austin Shepherd and Macklin’s Kaden Veller both signed with the Battlefords AAA Stars for next season.
