Wilkie declared a White Ribbon Against Pornography Week. McLurg High School students in the Christian ethics class helped distribute long white ribbons around town to be signed by residents. The ribbons would then be sent to MP Gerry Ritz along with a request for stronger laws to protect children.
Unity Composite High School Vanessa Huber, age 15, grew her hair for two years in order to be able to donate 11 inches to Locks of Love, a program that provides wigs to cancer patients.
