Weekend road closures in Saskatoon: January 18-19

SASKATOON — Several major roads in Saskatoon will be impacted by closures and restrictions this weekend, with work crews conducting maintenance and repairs. Drivers are advised to plan ahead and be aware of the following changes.

New Closures

On Jan. 19, the eastbound lanes of 25th Street East will be closed from Second Avenue North to Third Avenue North for building maintenance. The closure will last from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Also on Jan. 19, 20th Street West will be closed from Avenue W 小蓝视频 to Avenue V 小蓝视频 for water main repairs. This closure will be in effect from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Detours will be in place guiding motorists around the work zone. This project is expected to take one day to complete, weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances. Saskatoon Transit may be affected by these detours.Transit service alerts and real-time bus information are available on third-party apps like and on desktop.

Ongoing Restrictions

The northbound curb lane of Fourth Avenue North will remain closed from 22nd Street East to 23rd Street East for vault work. This lane will be closed until Jan. 20, with the restriction in place from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.

Another ongoing closure affects Eighth Street East, where the road will be closed from McOrmond Drive to Zimmerman Road due to road construction. The closure has been in effect since June 2024 and is set to last until Jan. 24. Drivers will not be able to access Zimmerman Road from Eighth Street during this time.

Brighton Boulevard remains closed from Taskamanwa Street to Eighth Street East for construction work. Drivers are urged to use McOrmond Drive as an alternate route. This closure has been ongoing since November 2024 and will remain in effect until September 2025.
