SASKATOON - Police responded to several reports of bear spray 小蓝视频 produced and/or discharged over the weekend in the city.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. on March 7, Community Safety Officers (CSO) from the Saskatoon Fire Department were patrolling downtown when they observed a man get bear sprayed outside of a mall in the 200 block of 1st Avenue 小蓝视频. The CSOs maintained visual contact with the suspects and provided information about their location to police to effect their arrests. The victim did not wish to receive medical assistance.
As a result, a 21-year-old man and 19-year-old man have been charged with assault with a weapon.
The next evening, on March 8, shortly before 7 p.m., police were called to an apartment building in the 100 block of Avenue V North for a report of bear spray 小蓝视频 discharged inside. Upon arrival, officers learned that when a man had asked a group of people loitering in the building to leave, one man produced and discharged a can of bear spray before fleeing the area. The suspect was not located by police.
Later, at around 8:30 p.m. on March 8, police were called to the 300 block of Avenue P 小蓝视频 for a report of an injured person. Upon arrival, officers located a woman suffering from the effects of bear spray. The continued investigation determined that the woman had been walking in the area when an unknown man approached her from behind and discharged bear spray into her face. She was provided medical assistance by Medavie Health Services West but did not want further police involvement.
Again, on March 8 at about 10 p.m., police responded to the 3200 block of 22nd Street West for a report of a man that had been bear sprayed by an unknown person. Upon arrival, officers learned that the man had been bear sprayed near 22nd Street West and Fairlight Drive; a search of the area did not locate any suspects and the victim was unable to provide a further suspect description.
Then, on March 9 at around 2:30 a.m., police were called to the 900 block of 22nd Street West for a report of a man that had been bear sprayed. The victim did not wish to receive medical assistance or cooperate with a police investigation; however, additional officers had already located a suspect in the 200 block of Avenue J 小蓝视频. Upon identifying this suspect, he was found to be wanted on outstanding warrants from the Prince Albert Police Service and was subsequently arrested.
Lastly, at around 3:20 p.m. on March 9, police were called to a mall in the 200 block of 1st Avenue 小蓝视频 for a report of a Loss Prevention Officer (LPO) that had been bear sprayed by a male youth. The suspect fled the area before police arrived; however, later that day, at around 5 p.m., mall security notified police that the suspect was observed again outside the mall. Upon police arrival, officers effected the arrest of a 12-year-old male youth and found him to be in possession of a can of bear spray. He was charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, unauthorized carry of a concealed weapon, and assault with a weapon as a result.
