I recently observed in the paper a list of all the businesses, organizations and individuals who have committed funding to the multiplex. It is heartening to see the widespread support by so many for this much needed addition to our community.
However, in reading over the list of sponsors and donors, it is glaringly evident that none of the chartered banks in our community were listed as having made any financial commitment to the project.
Certainly the chartered banks have always been an integral part of our community and derive many financial benefits from doing business in our community.
Therefore, one naturally wonders why the banks have not, as yet, seen fit to demonstrate their civic and corporate responsibility to the customers and the community by financially supporting the multiplex. Given their high level profiles locally, as well as nationally, and their resources, wouldn't one expect them to show leadership in this endeavour and to set an example to their customers and other citizens by providing financial support to the multiplex.
Where are the banks in supporting our multiplex?
