Humboldt ministerial message: There’s still blessings for which to be thankful

“I do not at all understand the mystery of grace; only that it meets us where we are, but does not leave us where it found us.”

—Anne Lamott

As we celebrate the season of Thanksgiving, I am mindful of the grace that has surrounded our living this past year. It has not been easy to navigate the unsettled waters of our world. And the losses we have undergone both personally and as community may have left us feeling abandoned and despairing at times.

As I write this however, we are currently enjoying some of the nicest fall weather in recent memory. And the sunsets, sunrises and vibrant colors of the countryside have been magnificent! A feast for the eyes!

Were the gardens good this year? No. But I saw some of the biggest zucchini I have ever seen on the Harvest Sharing table at our church. Did we get to travel as we usually do? No. But we had some great opportunities to gather with family and friends around the campfire this summer. These might seem like simple things; little things, but they are a reminder that although my world and my life are not how I would want them to be right now, blessings abound.

Knowing God loves us and that we are blessed beyond our wildest imagination is part of the amazing grace that meets us where we are and takes us to a new place of gratitude!

Happy Thanks-living!
