A cash cow stop sign

I haven't been nabbed yet, but that's likely because I'm this halo glowing, saintly driver who always comes to a full stop at a stop sign and counts to three. Sometimes I can hardly stand to be in the cab with myself, I'm so righteous.

A co-worker and his wife recently contributed to a traffic enforcement cash cow within a couple of days of one another. The stop sign that lays the golden eggs (I love mixing my metaphors) is located where the Co-op Mall parking lot intersects with 100th Street. According to the moving violation "victim," the requirement to stop is illogical on a couple of fronts. It forces motorists to stop at the top of an incline, making it difficult to accelerate in order to merge onto 100th Street in icy conditions. It also forces traffic to come to a full stop where drivers have a long, clear view of oncoming two-lane traffic.

Those complaints aside, it is a stop sign, and RCMP are actively enforcing it. The officers park in an area of the lot where they have a clear view of the sign and an ability to quickly track down their quarry after violations are observed.

So, be warned. The stop sign might not be logical but it's big, red and emblazoned with STOP. If you choose to ignore it, you might be the next one to contribute to City coffers.
