One month after attending the Sask First midget camp for Zone 7, 20 young men have been chosen for the team and will be in action at the Sask First tournament this weekend in Regina.
The hockey hotbed of Edam has three players selected to the team including defenceman Joshua LaClare and forward Owen LaClare, who played in Edam this season, and forward Joel Blaquiere, who suited up for the Midwest Rage.
Brock Weston of Maidstone, a 1995-born defenceman, played with the Midwest AA Midgets and also made the cut to attend the Sask First tournament.
One other Midwest Rage player, Brant Kolybaba of Lashburn, made the Zone 7 team.
Two forwards from the Unity AA Lazers, from the town of Unity, Dustin McAleer and Vicor Pernitsky, also made the team.
Dayson Desmarais, a defenceman from Cut Knife who also played in Unity this season, was also selected to the team.
The rest of the team is made up of three players from Macklin, two of whom played in Unity in Stacy Campbell and Dustin Bast. There are three players from Rosetown, three players from the Meadow Lake Midget AA Stampeders, two from Kerrobert and one from the Luseland/Dodsland Midgets.
Zone 7 will start the Sask First tournament off Friday at 7 p.m. against Zone 4.
In other Zone 7 news, the bantam tournament took pace last weekend and Zone 7 won the D-final after going 0-3-0 in the round robin, they beat Zone 4 4-2.
