The Northwest Vipers, played their first game in the Junior B Western Canadian Championships Thursday and pulled out a 8-5.
The Vipers scored three runs in the first and five in the fifth to secure the win. They also stranded eight base runners.
The Strathmore Magic scored three runs in the fourth and two in the fifth on five total hits, but fell short.
The Vipers were in action at 3 p.m. against the Hamiota Hurricanes, the second representative from Manitoba.
The Vipers have two more round robin games scheduled for Friday and two more Saturday.
