Students at Three Lakes School in Middle Lake showed off their talents last week to to raise money for a new gym floor.
A fund-raising supper followed by a talent show was held at the school on April 13.
The current gym floor is heaving and cracking, said Andrea Baker, one of the event co-ordinators.
To replace the current floor with a new suspended hardwood floor will cost $125,000. After the fund-raiser on April 13, the school had already raised $84,000 to go towards their new floor.
They only started to raise money for the floor in January this year, and Baker is astounded by the community's response.
"We didn't know the support would be this good," said Baker.
The largest donation they have received was a $5,000 donation from Information Services Corporation.
The majority the money raised has been smaller donations from the community.
Instead of simply asking for donations, the fund-raising committee has been selling squares of the gym floor for $20.
"We targeted alumni and local (community members)," said Baker.
After buying a square, the buyer will have their name placed on a replica of the gym floor on a wall in the school.
This isn't the end of the fund-raising for the school.
Their next event will be hosting a Drive One 4 UR School event with Discovery Ford on May 6, with burgers supplied and cooked by SaskEnergy.
They will also be holding a progressive 50-50 draw that will be drawn for at a dance СÀ¶ÊÓƵ held on July 1.
"We're hoping that will take us where we need to be," said Baker.
