The rinks around the Battlefords were fairly quiet on the weekend, but that doesn't mean there we no local minor hockey teams in action.
The Peewee AA Barons were in Meadow Lake Saturday and pulled out a 5-3 win. Brandon Lesko scored twice for the Barons with Jared Schmidt, Rhett Lesmeister and Gavin Nolin scoring singles. Mathew Flath was the winning goalie, as the Barons improved to 1-2-0 on the season.
The Bantam AA Barons were at home Saturday against Melfort and battled to a 3-3 tie. The bantams are 1-1-1 on the season.
The Midget A Sharks started their season with a home loss to the Biggar, who joined the league for the first time this season. Biggar won 5-2.
Other minor hockey action had the midget house teams playing an evaluation game Friday as the coaches work on splitting the teams.
