Some teams were beginning the regular season, others were playing after a long break and some just simply picked up where they left off from the previous weekend. However the schedule was laid out, it worked well for most Battlefords minor hockey teams on the weekend.
Battlefords Midget AA Barons
After a 20-day break between games, the Barons earned their first win in the Centre Four Hockey League this season with a 4-2 victory in Meadow Lake Friday.
The Barons hosted North East Sunday and lost 7-1.
Saturday, the Barons host Beardy's and Sunday Warmen will be in North Battleford.
Battlefords Midget Barons #1
The Barons started their season with a win and a loss in the STEP League on the weekend. Friday, the Barons lost 6-3 at home to Meadow Lake. Nick Scott was in net for the loss while Thomas Fransoo scored twice and Brendin Lightfoot added one goal for the Barons.
Saturday, the Barons hosted Turtleford and won 8-2. Carson Churchman was the winning goalie. Nathan Pfeil scored a hat trick, Austin Neuts and Joel Nights had two goals each and Fransoo had the other goal for the Barons.
Next for the Barons is a Friday night tilt at home against Edam.
Battlefords Midget Barons #2
The Barons played once in their opening weekend of the STEP League and were shutout by the Meadow Lake Colts.
After 14 penalties, three of which were bench minor penalties, the Barons lost 6-0. Gavin Garden was in net for the Barons making 37 saves.
The next game for the Barons is Wednesday, Nov. 10 against the other Battlefords midget A team.
Battlefords Midget A Sharks
The Sharks played host to the Saskatoon Bantam team Friday. Saskatoon earned a 5-4 win putting the Sharks at 1-1-0.
The Sharks were in Saskatoon Wednesday to play the midget team and Saturday they will host that same team at the Civic Centre.
Battlefords Bantam AA Barons
The barons hosted West Central Sunday and earned the 5-2 win. The Barons improved to 2-2-2 on the season.
The Next action for the AA Barons will be home games Saturday and Sunday against Prince Albert and Warmen.
Battlefords Bantam Barons
The bantam team earned their second win of the season in the Highway 14 Hockey League with a 10-1 beating of Rosetown at the Don Ross Arena.
Taryn Kotchorek was the winning goalie for the Barons.
Shane Parenteau scored a hat trick, Kevin Bendall and Kelby Swiftwolfe scored two each and Bryce Cuthand, Cheyenne Benson and Jackson Tady had one goal each.
The Barons will be in Rosetown Sunday.
Battlefords Bantam Sharks
As the Bantam Sharks prepare for their home tournament this weekend, they come in with some momentum thanks to a big win on the weekend.
The Sharks were in Shellbrook Friday and won 9-0.
The Sharks were also scheduled to play at home against Rosetown, but that game was postponed.
The next league action for the 2-0 Sharks is Nov. 12 in Spiritwood.
Battlefords Peewee Sharks
It was a long way to go, but it was well worth it for the Battlefords Peewee Sharks. They were in Viking, Alta. Saturday and earned a 9-0 win. Sydney Geering scored twice and had two assists to lead the offence. Other goal scorers were Morgan Lamontagne, Melina Johnston and Caylin Edwards, all with two goals, and Misty Bird had a goal and an assist.
Matheson Colliar was in net for the shutout.
The Sharks will be in action Friday evening against Pierceland and Saturday afternoon against Cold Lake, both in the Battlefords.
Battlefords Atom AA Barons
The Barons took on the Saskatoon Renegade Hitmen in Langham and came up short with a 6-4 loss. Sunday, the Barons were in Waldheim against Warmen and tied 5-5.
Next on he schedule for the Barons is a home game against Lloydminster Fort Garry Industries Sunday.
