No matter the sport, anytime an athlete has a chance to compete outside of the province it is a great honour. Eight members of the North Battleford Water Doves Synchronized Swimming Club competed in the annual MASY Challenge on the weekend.
MASY, the largest synchronized swimming event for the Water Doves includes swimmers from Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Yukon and took place in Winnipeg May 13 to 15.
Courtney Roberts competed in the 10 and under division and placed fourth in the solo results with a 46.015 score. Courtney also competed in the 10 and under figures event and placed 29th. At provincials April 16 and 17, Courtney earned a gold medal and carried that momentum to an impressive showing at the MASY Challenge.
In the 12 and under division, Jenna Parker finished seventh at provincials to qualify for the MASY Challenge. On the weekend she was 58th as the lone representative to swim from the North Battleford club in her age class.
Abby Crozier was 51st in the 13 to 15 figures event. Kenzy Klippenstein was 58th, Kylie Burnett was 66th, Breah Weber was 67th, Taylor Bouvier was 72nd and Jenna was 74th.
Kenzy and Kylie also competed in the 13 to 15 duet event and placed ninth. They were fifth at provincials in Saskatoon one month earlier.
The Water Doves team also swam to a ninth place finish in the 13 to 15 team event.
