Chief Poundmaker was second best at regionals and second best at provincials on the weekend at Lake Lenore.
Poundmaker played Regina Western Christian in the first game Friday and held on for a 6-3 win.
Poundmaker led 4-0 at half time and had an answered for Regina's attack in the second half cruising to the win. Good ball control by Poundmaker and two goals by Shelbi Sheepkin and Jon Bonaise and singles by Louie Checkosis and Jace Poundmaker put Poundmaker in the gold medal match.
Poundmaker went up against Lake Lenore in the final and if it weren't for two penalty kicks Poundmaker could've came home with gold.
After Lake Lenore players drew two penalty kicks in the first half, and converted on both, Poundmaker had to go on the attack and Bonaise scored later in the first half making it 2-1 heading into the break.
Lake Lenore added another goal in the second half and shutout Poundmaker earning the 3-1 win.
