The Battlefords Midget Stars losing streak continued Thursday night, as they travelled to Meadow Lake to play the Beardy's Blackhawks.

A powerplay goal by Brett Boehm put the Stars behind early and they couldn't spark the offence to ever tie the game again.

Elliott Peterson and Matthew Hildebrandt scored later in the first and Beardy's led 3-0 after 20 minutes.

Blair Mahon was under fire in the first frame, as the Stars were out shot 17-6.

In the second, it was Jesse Gerbig scoring his seventh of the season from Regan Yew and Reece Fenrich.

Twenty-four seconds later, Beardy's reclaimed the three-goal lead, as Landon Robin beat Mahon.

The second ended with the Blackhawks leading 4-1.

In the third, Jared Iron increased the Blackhawks in the first half of the period.

Gerbig scored his second of the game, this time on the powerplay from Dillon Forbes and Ryne Keller, but that was all the offence from the North Stars.

The games ended with the Blackhawks winning 5-2 and out shooting the Stars 51-22.

Steven Glass earned the win for the Blackhawks.

The loss was the Stars eighth in a row with their last win coming Nov. 17 against the Saskatoon Blazers.

Some good news for the Stars is one of their final two games of 2010 is against the Blazers. Sunday, the Stars go to Saskatoon to take on the Blazers, but before that they will host the Saskatoon Contacts Wednesday at the Civic Centre.

Another piece of good news for the Stars is that their captain, Forbes was back in the lineup after a suspension and an appeal.
