The Battlefords AAA Sharks rebuilding process continued on the weekend, as head coach Jean Fauchon and his staff hosted 24 skaters for two ice sessions and four scrimmages.
The spring evaluation camp was intense according to Fauchon. There is no doubt the girls are hard working said the head coach after evaluating the weekend.
Some local girls impressed and Fauchon said they will have a shot to make the team in the fall. Others were recruited after the March Ice Tournament in Saskatoon, the aboriginal Team Saskatchewan evaluations, bantam and midget zone camps and other tournaments. He hopes the team is moving in the right direction and the players will help get the Sharks aimed at an improved season from 2010-11.
The Sharks will have 11 returning players with an extra year of experience, but Fauchon said the biggest issue is still finding some prominent goal scorers to compliment the hardworking and talent players he had last season and watched on the weekend.
Other players the coach would've like to see at camp this year had other hockey commitments, but Fauchon is hopeful they will be back in the Battlefords in the fall, as they showed interest in the Sharks' program.
