The U18 series resumes Thursday in Wilcox.

NORTH BATTLEFORD - The Battlefords AAA Stars are all tied up in their first round U18 series with the Notre Dame Hounds.

The Stars evened the series at 1-1 after a 4-3 win at Access Communications Centre Monday. The series now shifts to Wilcox Thursday, March 17.

Monday, the Stars got off to an early lead on a power play goal from Wyatt Wurst in the first period.

Cole Wirun tied it up on the power play in the second. but Zane Normand restored the Stars lead with 8:41 left in the second.

In the third, the Stars increased the lead to two goals as Treycen Wuttunee scored early in the period. A shorthanded goal from Johnny Lopez cut it to 3-2 but Normand’s second of the game gave the Stars enough of a cushion to last the rest of the way.

The Hounds were only able to respond with a power play goal from Luke Marshall with 52 seconds remaining, not enough in a 4-3 Battlefords win.

Game three now goes Thursday night in Wilcox, with game four of the series back at Access Communications Centre March 20.
