June 25 was a day to remember for Jordan Fransoo.

The North Battleford product and current Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL) defenceman was taken in the 7th round (186th overall) by the Ottawa Senators in the NHL draft.

The 6'2", 179 pound 18-year-old had spent time in 2009-10 in the SMAAAHL with the Saskatoon Contacts, collecting 31 points (11G, 20A) with 7 PPG in 42 games, and followed that with 4 points (1G, 3A) in 11 play off games.

He was called up to the Wheat Kings squad last year and played four play off games without a point.

This year was a different story, as the bruising D-man had 18 points (6G, 12A) with 72 PIMs and a +4 rating in 63 games. In six play off games, he collected a single assist while adding 6 PIMs.

He also played for Team West at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge last year, collecting a single power play goal.
