The Neilburg Bowling Association held their awards banquet and annual meeting recently.
The wind-up raised more than $2,000 for the organization through dinner tickets, silent auction, bake table, 50/50 draw and selling the leftover meat.
This was the 24th year that the organization has been in existence. The upcoming 2011-2012 bowling season will be special as the Neilburg Bowling Association will celebrate their 25th anniversary. The group has provided many hours of enjoyment to many people over the last two and a half decades.
The winners of the Association Roll-offs were the Gutterfords - a team that played on Thursday evenings. The group was made up of Darlene Rutherford, Marilyn Wilson, Adelle Schmidt, Colin Ryan and Steve Ryan. They had a final tally of 6,136 points.
The Team High Triple went to the Stand-Byes with a total of 2,794 points. The Stand-Byes played on Tuesday evenings with Darlene Rutherford, Diane Powers, Rose Leitheiser, Gary Bachman and Tom Poppleton making up the team.
The Alley Cats won the award for the Team High Single with a tally of 974 points. The members were Cathy Ducherer, Diana Worman, Jeff Walson, Kris Wakefield and Wade Worman. They also played on Tuesday evenings.
The Ladies' High Average went to Bernadette Poppleton with a tally of 182. Wade Worman was the Men's High Average winner with a score of 198.
High Triple Games went to Darlene Rutherford (ladies) with 666 and to Kris Wakefield (men) with 716. Shayla Koedyk won the Ladies' High Singles and Victor Koch took home the Men's High Singles prize. Both Koedyk and Koch had a final total of 284.
Nicole Martin was the Most Improved Female Bowler, taking her average from 161 to 175 (up 14 points). Rex Ryan was the Most Improved Male, adding 21 points to his average score - from 122 to 143.
It was decided to move the cement blocks on the south side of the bowling alley and to make the railing at the front entrance more sturdy.
The new executive was nominated and elected by acclamation. The president for the next season will be Bernadette Poppleton, with Wade Worman acting as the vice-president. Roxanne Becotte is the secretary and Darlene Rutherford is the treasurer.
League bowling fees will go up a dollar, from $5 to $6. The membership fees will stay the same at $12. New rental shoes have been ordered to replace any that have been damaged. An amendment to a motion from several years ago was made, allowing the association roll-offs to take place during the last two weeks of bowling, instead of continuing for an extra week.
Barry Ducherer was the lucky winner of the 50/50 prize, taking home $130. Liam Koch won the children's door prize. Shelly Spence won the ladies' door prize and Victor Koch took home the men's door prize.
