Sask's baseball history continues

For more than a quarter of a century, the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum has been honouring the baseball greats who started or passed through the province's historic baseball diamonds.

For more than a quarter of a century, the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum has been honouring the baseball greats who started or passed through the province's historic baseball diamonds.

August 20 will be he 27th annual induction banquet of the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame.

Last week, 12 individuals, two teams and family were selected for the 2011 induction.

The list of individual greats include: the late Anton Belous of Hyas, Wally Blaisdell formerly of Moose Jaw, Roy Burns of Flintoff, the late Hugh Carr of Avonlea, Don Dupuis of Saskatoon and formerly of Bienfait, the late William Erhardt of Valley Centre, the late Walter Harasen of Yorkton, Lyle Johnson of Young, Rick Morrice of Eston, Larry Orth of Esterhazy, the late Ed Stefureak of Edmonton and Ken Townsend of Bladworth.

Inducted this summer in the team category will be the Kindersley Klippers and the Lashburn Linnets/Cardinals.

The Biensch family of Marsden will be inducted into the family category.

The town of Wilkie will also be inducted into with this summer's class, which coincides with the communities centennial celebration. Wilkie will be inducted for its contribution to the great history of Saskatchewan baseball. Throughout the summer and leading up to the induction the Regional Optimist and Battlefords News-Optimist will be publishing articles about the 2012 induction class.
