Marysburg Royals second baseman Brent Puetz (No. 18) wings the ball toward first baseman Luke Strueby (No. 25) after tagging out a Saskatoon Stallions runner at his base during the first game of a doubleheader between the two teams played in Marysburg on June 5.

The Marysburg Royals senior baseball team had a week off, then finally, a doubleheader at home.
With their homeopener scheduled for May 28 postponed, the Royals got to play their first games in front of a hometown crowd on June 5 against the Saskatoon Stallions, who are sitting in first place in the league.
Game one, which began in sunlight that turned into rain before the third inning, was a pitchers' duel between Royal Colin Bauml and the Stallions' Craig Hucul.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning, when Brent Puetz hit a homerun to put the Royals up 1-0.
The score stayed that way until the sixth inning, when the Royals pushed one more across to make it a 2-0 game.
Marysburg ended up winning the game by that score.
"Colin pitched an outstanding game for the Royals, giving up only three hits," noted Curtis Strueby of the Royals. "The defence played great behind him, not making an error."
Though the bats were quiet - they only managed two hits - the home team managed to get the couple of runs needed to win the game.
The second game of the doubleheader saw the Stallions and Royals come out swinging.
The score after one inning was 2-1 Stallions, with both teams leaving the bases loaded in their half-inning.
The Royals managed to push a couple runs more across home plate in the third, off Stallion starter Luc Torgunrud to make it a 3-2 game.
Braden Bauml was on the mound for the Royals and pitched a good game all the way into the sixth inning.
The Stallions managed to load the bases, then Dallas Hucul cleared them with a grand slam.
Royal Mathew Strueby came in to pitch the rest of the game.
The Royals only managed to score one more run as Torgunrud threw a complete game for the win.
"The pitching was good and the defence was once again really good not making any errors," Strueby reported. "The bats were also solid, as we had nine hits with Cole Bauml and Brent Puetz leading the way with two apiece."
All in all, it was a good day of baseball in Marysburg, Strueby stated.
"Both games were well played by both teams," he said, adding that "the Stallions are playing good ball right now and so are we."
Marysburg's record is only 3-5 but they have been playing well since the first week of the season, when they went 0-3.
"It was great to see a pretty good crowd out in Marysburg for both games," he added. "They got to see two well played games by both teams."
The Royals will play in a tournament in Holdfast this weekend, taking on the Regina Dodgers and Moose Jaw Eagles on Saturday in the round-robin portion of the tournament.
"After that, it depends if we win or lose," Strueby said.
